Marc has delighted us with this Orc Champion, a unique creation that fully reflects his vision as a commander, assembled from the Orc Warriors Multipart Regiment by Avatars of War.
With the incredible paint job he’s done, it’s easy to imagine this orc shouting his name before charging into battle.
MARC’S APPROACH
“This orc is fantastic.
It has all the details it needs,
and you can tell that each one is there for a reason.
Nothing is excessive, and that makes it very comfortable and enjoyable to paint.”
“I was inspired by the classic Warcraft orcs.
I’ve always loved that striking contrast:
bright green skin and red armor that stood out boldly.”
“The part I enjoyed the most was the skin.
It’s the most visible area of the figure,
and since it has no texture, it’s very pleasant to work on.”
“To make the skin look more alive,
I added contrast with reddish-brown shadows.
Red is the complementary color of green,
and that makes everything stand out more.”
Contrast was the foundation of the palette. Marc used a vibrant green from Scale75, mixed it with yellow from the same range, and applied red and brown glazes using Vallejo paints for the shadows.
