ICONIC LEGENDS: AOW05 ORC HERO

The miniature that forged a community — from metal sculpt to 3D Orc Warlord

In 2007, Avatars of War released its fifth miniature: the Orc Hero.

At that time, forums were where wargames truly breathed.

Discussions were long, technical, and passionate. Images were examined in detail.

While Felix was sculpting the Orc Hero in green putty, he shared the entire process with the community: work-in-progress photos, anatomical adjustments, posture changes, axe corrections, more aggressive expressions.

The hobbyists responded. They commented. They debated. They pointed out details.

And Felix listened. He returned to his workbench, kneaded the putty, refined, resculpted… and went back to the forum.

It stopped being just a 28mm orc. It became a miniature shaped by its community.

The final sculpt carried that shared intensity. A warlord with his boot crushing a dwarf’s head — no random detail. Beneath that sole lay AoW01, the Berserker Dwarf, our very first and emblematic miniature, now stretched lifeless on the ground, crest flattened.

That scene sparked conversations, healthy rivalries, and passionate debates.

Orc players celebrated it. Dwarf players began talking about revenge.

The Orc Hero quickly became a reference among classic fantasy orc miniatures.

Nearly two decades have passed.
If forums defined 2007, today it’s the Legendary Makers.

We debate on Patreon. We discuss releases on Facebook. We share painted miniatures on Instagram. We refine ideas and listen to feedback on Discord.

The channels have changed. The conversation hasn’t.

Today, Felix continues sculpting orcs with weight, tension, and untamed character.
Once in green putty. Now in 3D.

The same brutal soul. The same Old-School weight. Now sculpted in 3D.

That’s what an Avatars of War Orc is.
