FROM SCHOOL TO THE FORGE: IGNASI FERRER, LEGENDARY COLLABORATOR
NOT ALL LEGENDS ARE BORN ON THE BATTLEFIELD. SOME BEGIN IN A CLASSROOM, WITH A MINIATURE SCULPTED FROM PIPE REPAIR PASTE.
A MEETING THAT CHANGED HIS PATH
In the 1990s, Ignasi Ferrer met Felix Paniagua at school. Everything changed the day Felix showed up with a miniature of an orc, sculpted by hand using pipe repair paste. Years later, Ignasi would recall that moment as a revelation:
“There must be a way to make copies of this. We just need to figure out how.”
In an era without the Internet or tutorials, he went from jewelry shops to workshops and foundries carrying that tiny figure, searching for answers. Most dismissed him… until he found Enrique, a microfusion expert who decided to join the quest.
FORGING A DREAM
That journey led to the founding of DragonRune in the year 2000. In 2003, the company was acquired by the American firm The Tin Dictator.
The original orc was lost during testing, but something far more valuable was gained: knowledge. That knowledge would turn Ignasi into the miniature production expert he is today.
A CAREER FORGED IN EXPERIENCE
Throughout his professional life, Ignasi has worked as an independent consultant and is now a respected expert in the field, offering his insight to some of the most renowned foundries in Spain and Latin America.
Thanks to his expertise, Avatars of War has been able to produce miniatures using virtually every known method: metal spin-casting, vacuum-cast resin, Siocast, HIPS plastic, PVC plastic, and 3D printing.
A SHARED MISSION
Though Ignasi is no longer part of Avatars of War, his collaboration was far more than a job—it was part of a legendary journey that helped shape the very soul of the project. And while his professional path now continues elsewhere, his impact remains unforgettable.
Avatars of War would not be what it is today without his knowledge, his vision, and his dedication.
